GOAL

To empower and instil confidence among minority women, including their neighbours from other communities living in the same village/locality, by providing knowledge, tools and techniques for interacting with Government system, banks and other institutions at all level.

Need

As per the census 2011, literacy rate among rural women in West Bengal is just 66%. Purulia has the lowest women literacy rate of 51.29% among all other districts of West Bengal. Female literacy is relatively related with fertility rates, population growth, infant and child mortality rates and shows a positive association with female age at marriage, life expectancy, participation in modern sector of economic activities and above all female enrolment. Low literacy ratio is also preventing them from availing various Government benefit schemes.
