Empowering Tribal Women: Training in Science & Technology Communication
This training program, conducted in collaboration with Ramananda Centenary College and supported by Vigyan Prasar, aims to empower tribal women in Jhargram and Bankura districts by enhancing their understanding of science and technology. Focused on drudgery reduction and nutrition, the program educates participants on innovative techniques to ease their workload and improve food choices for better health outcomes. By addressing traditional taboos around food and nutrition, we strive to foster a healthier, more informed community of women ready to embrace new technologies for sustainable livelihoods and improved well-being.
Advancing Health and Livelihoods: The Aim and Importance of Science & Technology Training
Program Goal
To enhance health awareness and introduce labor-saving technologies to tribal women, fostering improved nutrition, well-being, and livelihoods.
Need for the Program
Tribal women often face challenges with intensive labor and lack of access to essential knowledge about health and nutrition. This program addresses these gaps by equipping women with science-based insights and practical tools to improve their daily lives and overall health.
MANT organised a training programme on Science
Ramananda Centenary College, Laulara, Purulia in association with MANT organised a training programme on Science & Technology Communication on Drudgery Reduction, Food and Nutrition for Tribal Women in Jhargram Block of Jhargram District and Raipur Block of Bankura District in West Bengal on 5th and 6th March, 2020 respectively.
Women actively participated
In each block, fifty women actively participated in the programme. The programme was supported by Vigyan Prasar, New Delhi.
Primary Focus of the programme
The Primary Focus of the programme was to spread awareness among tribal women and breaking the various taboos associated with food and nutrition and the overall effect on the health of women. Drudgery reduction session was given focus on improving the livelihood of tribal women by introducing new technologies for them to utilise and reduce the amount of labour that they earlier had to put in.
