On November 27, the Ministry of Women and Child Development launched the “Child Marriage-Free Bharat” or “#BalVivahMuktBharat” initiative, and our district joined hands to support this important cause. MANT actively participated in this movement by organizing a series of impactful programs to raise awareness and prevent child marriage.
Highlights of the Campaign
Community Outreach Across 45 Villages:
In 45 villages, we worked to spread awareness through various programs, collecting 2,501 pledges from individuals committed to stopping child marriage.
- School Programs: Eight schools hosted discussions and activities to educate students about the dangers of child marriage.
- Candle Marches: Fifteen marches were held to symbolize the spread of awareness from one person to another, emphasizing the collective effort needed to end this practice.
- Community Awareness Events: Twenty-one programs brought together local leaders, women, and youth to discuss the importance of protecting children from early marriage.
District-Level Collaboration
At the district level, two programs were organized in partnership with the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) of the District Social Welfare (DSW) department. The events were graced by key dignitaries, including:
- Md. Arif Nawab, Secretary of DLSA (District Legal Services Authority)
- Namita Gorai, Pradhan of Sanbandha Gram Panchayat
- Local SHG (Self-Help Group) leaders and community members
Md. Arif Nawab delivered an inspiring speech, explaining the legal implications of child marriage and its harmful impact on children. He urged communities to take collective responsibility and pledged support for further awareness programs in every village.
Observing Child Rights Week
In alignment with International Child Rights Week, MANT participated in a district-level event attended by administrative officers, including ADM General Arindam Biswas, NGOs, schools, and Panchayat representatives. Discussions highlighted the importance of protecting children’s rights and the need for collaborative action.
A Unified Effort
The campaign demonstrated the power of collaboration among government bodies, NGOs, and communities. MANT’s initiatives, combined with support from DLSA, DSW, and local leaders, created a strong foundation for a child marriage-free future. Together, we are working to protect the rights and dreams of children, ensuring they grow up in a safe and supportive environment.
Let us continue this journey toward a brighter and safer future for every child.
